Gendai Reiki – an Overview

Gendai Reiki – What is it?

My definition of Reiki is fairly simple:  Unseen energy that exists worldwide which is channeled for physical, mental and spiritual healing.  Gendai Reiki is a blending of the modern and traditional (ancient) methods and other healing disciplines.

I learned about Reiki in 2011 when I met Kay Lowell through the San Antonio Holistic Chamber of Commerce and Kay became my Reiki teacher, or my sensei, which means teacher.

Kay Lowell, owner of Spiritual Health and Wellness Center Gendai Reiki Ryoho mean “Modern Reiki Method”, referring to the Japanese energy-based healing system developed by Mikao Usui Sensei in Japan in the 1920′s. Reiki was exported from Japan to the West, resulting in the development of Western style Reiki. Gendai Reiki Ryoho is traditional Japanese Reiki, with the inclusion of some Western Reiki techniques.

Kay has been teaching Gendai Reiki, Reflexology, and Acupressure since 2008.  We met this past year through the Holistic Chamber of Commerce and Kay became my Reiki teacher, or my ‘sensei’ (she explains it in the video!)  Before I met Kay I didn’t know anything about Reiki,  the ancient Japanese healing technique.  It is now part of every day.  After watching the videos, take a minute to hop over to Kay’s site to learn a little more about Gendai Reiki!
